Blue Mind Garden at Chelsea Flower Show 2025
The Chelsea Flower Show is one of the world’s most prestigious horticultural events. In 2025, the show embraced the theme ‘Your Space, Your Story’.
Concept:
Designer Ashleigh Aylett presented the ‘Blue Mind Garden’ – a balcony design inspired by Blue Mind, a book exploring the benefits of being near water.
Realization:
The garden featured coastal planting and natural materials selected for their sensory and sustainable qualities.
For the wall cladding, EXYD-M was selected – a reflective hammered surface echoing water, and made from fully recyclable stainless steel.
Photos below Julie Skelton: terracotta tiles (Mosaic Factory), tiles crafted from discarded seashells (Wright Brothers), hand-built ceramics (Sarah Bryan Studio).
Award:
The organiser of the exhibition, the Royal Horticultural Society, awarded the ‘Blue Mind Garden’ a Gold Medal and named it ‘Best Balcony and Container Garden’.
Personal Impression:
I had the opportunity to sit on the balcony for a while.
Despite the constant stream of visitors passing in front of it,
I felt comfortably cocooned in a natural sphere in which the distractions of the outside world gently faded away.
